Rapid urbanization has led to increased environmental and human health risks throughout the Mediterranean. Many Mediterranean countries are in urgent need of clean technologies to help solve pressing human health problems such as unsafe drinking water, poor air quality, and inadequate sewage treatment systems. A growing number of Mediterranean countries are joining other, more developed nations in their ongoing search for innovative technologies that allow for cost-effective and efficient pollution prevention and resource use.

MCSDP promotes emerging regional and international producers of environmentally sound technologies as part of our commitment to technology exchange, knowledge transfer, and "South-South" dialogue. Our approach is to form marketing and sales relationships with small and medium-sized environmental technology firms and link them with international clients seeking access to the appropriate environmental technologies required for the effective implementation of sustainable development programs.

By linking new environmentally sound products, processes, and services with forward-thinking government and private sector leaders, MCSDP reinforces a cycle of sustainable development, which generates employment and economic growth without environmental harm.
